Special thanks for sharing these pics from the former military base "Herzobase" goes to the webmaster of
herzobase.org.
In 1945, after the World War II, American troops occupied the former German air base "Fliegerhorst" in Herzogenaurach.
From this time the U.S. military area got the new name "Herzo Base".
After 1947 the area was used as European base of the U.S. Army Security Agency.
In 1972 the US ASA moved out and for the next 20 years the 210.th Field Artillery Group was stationed in the again renamed "Herzo Artillery Base".
After the begin of the Gulf war in 1990 the Artillery Group leaved Herzogenaurach and the U.S. military base was closed in 1992.
Since this time the former Herzobase is used for civilian purposes and has changed essentially.
Today there is the
"World of sports" with the Adidas headquarters,
a new created "360° world of living",
a "Public world" with the new Ramada hotel and
a "World of commerce".
